This machine could have been made in the early part of the 19th century. It is so primitive, that, while it grates cheese, it takes hard work and a lot of time to chean the machine after each use. The cheese grater blade is not removable, which of itself is just plain stupid. Getting rid of excess cheese is incredibly tedious and is such that it can't be completely clean and free of excess grated cheese. One (also primitive) suggestion in the instructions is to grate a piece of stale bread. While that helps, it is far from ideal. This is not what one would expect in a $500 machine devoted solely to grating hard (parmesan) cheese. Where is the vaunted Italian "design"?
